a material girl stuck in a not-so-material work world

Seriously... No.

A couple weekends ago, I was at BCBG, and I saw these Keds. Yes, for real.

"Debuted at New York's Fashion Week, on the BCBG runways, the Champion Canvas Distressed sneaker is a classic original washed, worn, and distressed like your favorite pair of jeans...This is soon to become an essential in any wardrobe."

Do we have to go back and re-visit something this awful from the 80s? First they tried with legwarmers, now the kids are wearing leggings, and now Mischa Barton is trying to bring back Keds-without-laces? Should I puffy-paint my name on them too?

Gross.

beautiful brown shoes

Why was I under the impression that Naturalizer shoes were supposed to be comfortable? You know, like Aerosoles? Comfort, to me, usually translates into shoes that are ugly, for the most part. So, from time to time, I have seen something that looks cute from afar in the Naturalizer store, only to go in and realize, that I was mistaken. It is not that cute. Until last night.

I saw these shoes, and I fell in love with the color. I love this color brown. Looks great with jeans. So, I tried them on and they looked even better on than they do in this picture. The little brown round toe sticking out underneath my jeans? Gorgeous. I even liked seeing my pedicure through the cut outs. Oh, and they're supposed to be comfortable? Sign me up.

Their website even says: "Naturalizer was dubbed "the shoe with the beautiful fit" by advertising guru Leo Burnett in the 1940s. Today's Naturalizer shoes still have a beautiful fit, and are comfortable enough to wear throughout the day. " Written by a man, naturally.

So, today - sooo not comfortable. I mean, I know they'll break in, like any other shoe, but I thought they weren't supposed to be like any other shoe? Whatever. They're cute, they're mine.

Cute shoes from Payless & Target

These look cute and are super trendy. I worry about this style being out before the spring is done, so I wouldn't want to spend too much on them. This might be a good cheap alternative, right? Will have to see how cheap they look in person.

These are also trendy (and sold out online). Look like they might be better quality. 4" heel?? Eek! Probably 3.5" minus the platform, I would hope.

I like these from Target... they come in brown & black too. I like this pool blue color - great with a tan!

Seen in Shop etc.

I just love this hairstyle, and the tan, and the white purse. I tried to semi-recreate it by going to Cabo, getting a tan,

and buying this fabulousy cute white purse at Target, but the purse smells. Yeah, I'm not sure why. It smells like nasty chemical plastic.

At least I got the tan.

I also saw this cute top from lizclaiborne.com of all places. I think it would look cute with a white skirt - B&W is huge for spring, right?
